Outdoor Learning Curriculum
Our outdoor learning curriculum embraces the philosophy that the best education does not happen at a desk, but through hands-on experiences, exploration, and active engagement with the world around us. Inspired by Forest School principles, we believe in fostering a deep connection with nature, encouraging children to take risks, solve problems, and develop resilience in a natural setting. Through outdoor activities, we promote physical, emotional, and social development while encouraging creativity and independence.
Forest School provides a unique opportunity for children to learn through play and discovery in a woodland environment. By exploring natural spaces, children develop confidence, a sense of responsibility for the environment, and an understanding of sustainability. This holistic approach ensures that children build essential life skills, while developing a sense of wonder and respect for the world they live in. As Vince Gowmon wisely said, "The best education does not happen at a desk, but rather engaged in everyday living; hands on, exploring, in active relationship with life." Our outdoor learning curriculum embodies this philosophy, empowering children to grow and thrive through immersive, experiential learning.
Our school grounds are designed to be a natural haven for exploration, learning, and connection with the environment. We take pride in offering a rich variety of outdoor spaces that encourage curiosity and nurture a love for nature. Our grounds feature a peaceful pond, home to various aquatic life, a dedicated wildlife area where students can observe and engage with local flora and fauna, and a vibrant forest area for hands-on exploration and discovery.
Additionally, we have quiet zones where children can reflect and enjoy the serenity of nature, bug habitats that support our thriving insect population, and bird nesting areas to attract and protect local bird species. These carefully designed outdoor spaces provide endless opportunities for children to learn about ecosystems, biodiversity, and sustainability while enjoying the benefits of outdoor play. Through these natural areas, we aim to cultivate a deep respect for the environment and foster a lifelong connection with the natural world.
